Support for Ukraine: English Courses

GoLearn! and Leicestershire County Council are offering FREE ESOL courses (English for Speakers of Other Languages) for Ukrainian refugees in Leicestershire. Details for how to make contact are on the Support for Ukraine page. Contact can be made by a friend, sponsor, support worker or the refugee themselves.

What you need to do

    • where you would like to take the course

  3. Enrol for the course and pay for it (if applicable)

Enrol for the course

Note: We are unable to offer places to learners returning to study the same 'learning aim' on qualification courses. Following initial assessment we will do our best to provide an appropriate course. However, where this is not possible we will endeavour to signpost you to alternative providers.

What happens next

When you enrol for any of our adult learning courses you will be sent an enrolment pack including a learner handbook which details all the information you will need to know, including support available and your Unique Learner Number that is issued when you enrol.

Course fees

The cost of the course is shown on the Leicestershire GoLearn website or in the course list.

It applies to all adults who:

  • can prove residency for 3 years prior to 1 September in the UK or European Economic Area (eg a European Union country, or Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway)
  • are not full time students at school or college.

Other terms and conditions apply, please check at enrolment.

Adults in full time education, those not meeting the residency criteria and in certain other circumstances will be charged 2 times the course fee.

If you receive certain benefits you can get a discount. Even if you are not receiving benefits, you may be entitled to financial help from the Learner Support Fund.

If the cost is more than £50, you may be able to pay your course fee in instalments - please ask at enrolment and see the Payment by Instalment terms and conditions.

Refunds

Refunds are only usually given if we close a course. However, consideration will be given to written requests from learners who have to withdraw on written medical advice or in exceptional circumstances. These refunds are subject to an administration charge of £10.

Disability or support need

If you have a disability or support need we will do our best to provide extra help and make classes and learning accessible to you. Please speak to staff about your particular needs or complete the section on the enrolment form.

Minimum Numbers and Cancellations

We may have to close a course if the enrolment is low or sometimes merge with another course and move to another venue. If we do have to close a course, we will let you know as soon as possible (at least 1 week) and arrange a refund or help you transfer to another course.

We suggest that you do not buy materials or equipment relevant to your course until you know the course is running.
