Ashby Road, Coalville - highway improvements

We want to hear your views on proposals to improve the highway/street scene on Ashby Road, Coalville from its junction with Ravenstone Road to the junction of Knighton Close. 

The scheme consists of the following improvements:

  • removal of all three of the priority narrowings
  • removal of 13 of the sheltered parking/traffic calming buildouts
  • creation of 16 on-street parking spaces, whilst removing 3
  • extending the existing advisory school 20mph zone
  • creation of two new uncontrolled crossing points
  • improvements to four of the existing uncontrolled crossing points
  • removal of unnecessary street furniture e.g. guard railing
  • replacement of existing illuminated bollards with reflective bollards
  • address existing road surface maintenance issues making vehicular accesses at the main entrance to the Snibston Country Park and ASDA/BP Petrol Station safer for all users.

The scheme would cost £250K, jointly funded by Leicestershire County Council and North West Leicestershire District Council.

The consultation period runs for three weeks from 10 January to 31 January 2020. To take part, please complete our online questionnaire

A display, where you can view proposed plans and leave your comments will be available in the main entrance of the Admin Office Snibston Discovery Park opposite Linden Way.

Staff from Leicestershire County Council and North West Leicestershire District Council will attend the display to answer questions on Tuesday 14 January from 1pm to 6pm.  The unattended display will remain open to the public to both view and leave comments through to Tuesday 31 January.   

What happens after the consultion closes

When the consultation closes on 31 January 2020, we will report the results back to the lead member. If the scheme is approved, construction will commence in Summer 2020.
