School Admissions Policy Consultation

This was a chance to have your say on the proposed changes to the School Admissions Policy

Leicestershire County Council is proposing to make a variation to its School Admissions Policy in order to bring it in line with the national School Admissions Code.

With forecasts showing the required number of school places in Leicestershire set to increase, we also plan to enlarge some schools on a phased basis starting from reception. This is to ensure Leicestershire has sufficient quality school places to meet local demands and offer parents and carers in those areas greater choice.

As part of the changes there will also be catchment changes to improve choice. This will also provide an opportunity to correct a previous historical anomaly and align the catchment area closer to the Leicestershire border.

The proposals we are considering:

  • A variation to our School Admissions Policy in order to bring it in line with the national School Admissions Code;
  • Expanding Burbage Sketchley Hill, The Latimer Primary School, Anstey Desford Primary School to meet future demands; and
  • Catchment area changes to Westfield Infant School, Westfield Junior School and Sketchley Hill Primary School to improve choice

Parents of children between the ages of 2 and 18, residents and other members of the public had the opportunity to have their say on these proposed changes between 6 December 2017 and 21 January 2018.
