Apprenticeships at the council

Enrol now for GoLearn courses

The new spring 2018 adult learning courses, with hundreds of learning opportunities, are now available for enrolment online on our Adult Learning webpage.

If you want to learn a new skill, improve your job prospects, boost your confidence or develop a new interest, take a look at the courses on offer.

Search and enrol online or call the Leicestershire Adult Learning Service on 0800 988 0308 to speak to an advisor about courses, enrolment fees or paying by instalments.

If you receive certain benefits or are on a low income,  you can get  a 70% discount on adult education courses, or may be entitled to attend for free.

Our apprenticeship scheme is designed to help young people gain skills and experience while working towards a relevant qualification.

It involves working in one of our departments as part of a team providing council services.

We look for people who are:

  • self-motivated
  • good communicators
  • flexible

In return you’ll learn the skills you’ll need through on-the-job training and gain a relevant qualification. You’ll also be paid the minimum wage for 18-20 year olds, which is roughly £189.81 for a 37 hour week (£5.13 per hour).

You’ll also get:

  • one to one meetings with a dedicated assessor
  • functional skills training in English, Maths and IT (unless exempt)
  • work placement opportunities in Germany and France
  • an apprentice NUS card

We aim to help you secure a permanent job with the council at the end of your apprenticeship.
