Working in Adult Social Care and Public Health

Every day, we are committed to improving the lives of vulnerable people and their families. Our social care helps people do everyday things, be active in their community, and safeguards people from harm. Our focus is to promote, maintain and enhance people's independence so that they are healthier, stronger and more resilient.

Home Care assistants needed

We are currently on the lookout for Home Care assistants to join our team and help change the lives of people across Leicestershire. If you have previous experience in the care sector and want to make a difference, then:

Making a difference to the people of Leicestershire

Bhavesh is a 77 year old gentleman caring for his 76 year old wife who has had a stroke. He has no family living locally and was keen to continue to care for his wife but was finding it difficult with supporting her properly.

The carer support service helped him to enrol on a carer course where he learnt about equipment and techniques. This enabled him to support his wife.

We also provide learning opportunities for adults so that they can gain key skills that will help their confidence levels as well as opening doors to a variety of opportunities.

Take a look at the video below to see what it’s like to work in our Homecare Assessment and Reablement team (HART)

More about us

Our Adult social care department supports people - including unpaid carers - who need practical or emotional support to lead an active life. We support people to do everyday things, participate in their community whilst safeguarding their personal wellbeing.

Our Public Health department leads on improving health and helping people lead more healthy lifestyles. We operate and commission key services ranging from support to quit smoking, suicide prevention, substance misuse prevention and services to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Across our health and social care teams, we work closely with NHS colleagues to meet the health needs of local people.

Our Aims

We aim to deliver services which will enable people to gain or regain skills to help them to live independently and recover from illness, as well as promoting healthier lifestyles through our public health work .

We will do this in the most unobtrusive and least restrictive manner possible. This means that we will support people in the short term whilst expecting that wherever possible people will support themselves in the longer term.
