About the Record Office
Access to the Record Office collections is free to everyone
The service aim is to preserve and provide access to a wide range of resources for researching the history and culture of Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
The extensive collections, dating from early 1100s to yesterday, include:
- manuscripts
- books
- newspapers
- maps
- photographs
- videos
- sound recordings
Staff are on hand to help you find the information you need.
When planning your visit
The Record Office is closed on Bank Holiday weekends, including the Bank Holiday dates, and at the following times:
- Closes at 6pm every Wednesday during December and January.
- Closed for stocktaking Saturday 29 September to Saturday 6 October 2018, reopening Monday 8 October.
