  • Booking is not required

Ticket types and details

Searchroom Pass

Suitable for occasional visits to the Record Office and allows you access to any materials on the open shelves, but will not give you access to the strongroom.

  • Proof of your name is required

Accepted Identification

  • Cheque guarantee card
  • National Insurance card
  • National Trust card
  • Passport

Day Ticket

Allows you access to all the resources including open shelf materials and access to the strongroom.

  • Proof of your name and address is required. Please note that passports do not contain addresses.

CARN Ticket

The CARN (County Archive Research Network) ticket is suitable for regular visitors and gives you access to the strongroom.

The CARN is a nationally recognised system for visiting for local authority record offices.

  • Your ticket is valid for 4 years at any record office that is part of the CARN network.
  • Proof of your name and address is required. Please note that passports do not contain addresses.

  • Driver’s Licence
  • Medical Card (with address)
  • Bank statement
  • Household bills
  • Official letter
  • Pension Book
  • Disabled Person’s Registration
  • Vehicle Registration Documents
  • Foreign Passports (if they have address, must also provide address in this country)
  • Official ID cards (with indication as to how you may be contacted and address)

Parking

There is a small free car park for Record Office users, situated about 50 metres along Long Street, at the entrance to Elizabeth Court. In addition there are several nearby car parks with time limited free parking. Please refer to the Google map link below.
