Our response to the coronavirus outbreak is continuing – and our focus is on keeping critical services running, particularly those supporting vulnerable people.

We are currently working through the detail of the latest government announcements which affect Leicester city and parts of the county.

Applications for primary school places now open

Parents with children due to start at primary schools in Leicestershire in September 2021 can now apply for places at their preferred schools.

Parents then have until Friday, 15 January 2021 to submit their applications.

We know that starting school is a big milestone so we would advise parents and carers to start considering this now and allow enough time to research and shortlist up to three primary schools that they want to include in their application.

We encourage parents to make their application online as they will receive an automatic acknowledgement that it has been submitted

There is no automatic entry system for any school in the county, so parents should also ensure they exercise their right to apply for three school preferences and are aware of the closing date.

Late applications have the lowest priority being processed after those made on time.

More information about schools in Leicestershire and the application process can be found on our school admissions page.
