County Council Chairman sends personal message to all staff

Pam Posnett says: "We can - and will -  get through this."

County Council Chairman Pam Posnett

The Chairman of the County Council, Councillor Pam Posnett, has written a personal and heartfelt thank-you letter to all staff – as County Hall gears up to shine in blue and green again tonight (Thursday).

The council's Glenfield HQ will be lighting up for a fourth week running to thank NHS and social care workers as part of the national ‘Clap for Carers’ campaign.

I wanted to add my personal thanks to all the staff and care workers, working alongside our colleagues in the NHS and other public services, who are putting their lives on the line every time they help others fight the coronavirus pandemic

Mrs Posnett also talks about her own time in self-isolation and how she has adjusted to a new normal - staying connected to work and family through technology.

"I've found social media so useful in keeping up to date with the latest news, updates from the county council, the local partners and what's going on in the world."

She also reflects on the inspiring fund-raising efforts of Captain Tom Moore as the 'best of British' and concludes her letter with a simple message to staff: "You're all doing a truly amazing job. It is a difficult and worrying time for everyone at the moment and we don't know when this will end. But by working together, staying resilient, following Government advice, we can - and will -  get through this."
