The NHS is celebrating its 72nd birthday on Sunday - and we're marking the occasion by leaving a single light on in our Members' Lounge at County Hall.
Speaking about the milestone, council leader, Nick Rushton, has thanked NHS and social care staff.
On this 72nd birthday of the NHS and social care, I thank those who have dedicated their working lives to caring for others. This includes those in the health service and those in our social care workforce.
This year has undoubtedly been the most challenging. In Leicester and Leicestershire that challenge is very real this week.
But once again, we continue to rise together, united in our purpose to support and protect the most vulnerable and care for those who need it.Person:Nick Rushton, leader of Leicestershire County Council
