Double honour for county attractions

Bosworth Battlefield and Century Theatre receive accolades

Two of Leicestershire County Council’s heritage attractions have been highly commended at a top tourism awards event.

Leicestershire Promotions' Tourism & Hospitality Awards 2018, now in their eighth year, are aimed at finding and recognising the best tourism businesses in Leicestershire.

The Bosworth Medieval Festival, held in August at the county council’s Battlefield Heritage Centre, and the Century Theatre in Coalville both received high commendation at last night’s (29th November) prestigious ceremony at the Athena in Leicester.

The Bosworth Medieval Festival was recognised in the ‘Best Festival or Event – Paid’ category while the Century Theatre also received an accolade in the ‘Best Team’ category.

This is a wonderful achievement for some of the most iconic venues in the county. The heritage, history and culture that we have on our doorstep is something we are extremely proud of. I am delighted that this well-deserved accolade has been received by two of the county council’s fantastic venues.

It was a tough competition for both venues with the 2018 awards having 153 finalists across 22 categories. Overall winners included the Timber Festival, The Link Hotel and Bruntingthorpe Events.
