Exploring range of adult learning opportunities

Open morning offers chance to find out more

Adult learning classes run by county council

Free adult learning taster sessions are available during a community open morning at Roundhill Adult Learning Centre in Thurmaston on Saturday, 9 March.

Hands-on and have-a-go sessions from across the county council's GoLearn programme will be on offer, including French and Italian language tasters, jewellery making, food art, mandala painting for mindfulness, first steps in computer coding and drop-in guidance on how to get the most from tablet computers.

The tasters are available to everyone and run from 10am to 1pm at Roundhill Academy on Melton Road, Thurmaston.

The adult learning enrolment team will be on hand throughout the event to help visitors sign up to the wide range of courses offered at the centre.

Part-time day, weekend and evening courses running at Roundhill include maths and English, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), employability skills, IT and computing, sewing, jewellery making, upholstery, pilates, photography, astronomy, drawing and painting as well as French and Italian. Courses are run by Leicestershire County Council’s Adult Learning Service and are open to adults aged 19 upwards.

The open morning at Roundhill is the perfect opportunity for anyone hoping to learn a new skill, boost their job prospects, take up a new interest or improve their wellbeing, to go along and see how a GoLearn course can help them. I would encourage everyone who is able to go along to the open morning and find out more about the courses on offer, as there is something to suit all tastes and need.

Anyone who would like more information about the open morning, the courses on offer at Roundhill Adult Learning Centre, or to secure a place on one of the free tasters, should call 0116 305 0573 or email .

Light refreshments will also be available to visitors from 12 noon.
