A series of further night closures will take place next week as part of the A512 and M1 junction 23 improvement scheme.

From Monday (12 August) closures will be in place from 8pm to 6am for four nights on the A512 East between the J23 roundabout and Snells Nook Lane.

The closures are required to narrow existing lanes and create a safe working environment for operatives without disruption to traffic. Diversions will be in place for the duration of the closures.

“To ensure the safety of our workers, some night-time closures will be a necessary part of this improvement scheme.

"We are grateful to motorists for their understanding while these vital works are carried out and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused."

Blake Pain, cabinet member for environment and transport

During the closure the proposed alternative diversion routes will be as follows:

For Traffic Heading East on the A512

Diversion will be B591 Ingleberry Road-Nanpanton Road-Forest Road-A6004 Epinal Way

Motorway traffic approaching M1 Junctions 23 & 22

Traffic will be advised to use Junction 22 and A50-A46-A6 for Loughborough

For traffic heading West on the A512

Diversion will be Snells Nook Lane-Nanpanton Road-Ingleberry Road

Traffic approaching the A512 from Snells Nook Lane will be diverted A512 East to Holywell Roundabout and A512 West to follow the aforementioned diversion route
