Loughborough Library will be closed from Monday, 5 November to Thursday, 3 January for Smart Library access and additional adult learning classrooms to be installed.
The closure will also see new desks for a community meeting space, a new help desk, some additional furniture in the children’s library and a change in layout.
While the refurbishment is taking place, there will be a range of options for local residents to visit alternative libraries. Shepshed Library will have extended opening hours, while there are also four community libraries less than five miles from Loughborough – Hathern, Barrow upon Soar, Mountsorrel and Quorn.
Installing self-access technology gives residents more choice of when they are able to visit the library, catering for a much wider audience. The additional adult learning classrooms will also allow for more adult learning courses to be delivered in the local area.Person:Councillor Richard Blunt, lead member for libraries
