Hundreds sign up to QuitReady service in January

Residents are being urged to make 2020 the year they live a healthier lifestyle.

Our weight management and stop smoking services are designed to give people the right support that will have a positive impact on their overall health and wellbeing.

The services include the support of friendly advisors offering free, tailored support to help with weight loss, giving up smoking and becoming healthier in general, either via text, Skype, phone or face-to-face appointments.

The new year is a time where people make pledges to get fitter and improve their health, and quitting smoking is a great place to start.

“We hope that people across the county will take advantage of the free support that is on offer and use the new year as an opportunity to develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

The weight management service offers lifestyle tips for people who are overweight that can fit into daily routines straight away. The team offers advice to people struggling to achieve and maintain a healthy weight on nutrition and ways of becoming more active.

The Quit Ready stop-smoking service offers a range of support, through a 12-week programme to become a non-smoker, as well as an online calculator to see how much money will be saved by stopping smoking.

Both services are non-judgemental, confidential and free.

Anyone in need of support to stop smoking or achieve a healthy weight can visit the website www.leicestershire.gov.uk/healthier-you or call the Quit Ready team on 0345 646 6666 or weight management team on 0116 305 1510.
