Reminder to apply for Changing Places grant

Grants of up to £20,000 are available for firms looking to enhance their toilet facilities

Changing Places grants are available for local businesses
Local firms urged to apply for grants to help install Changing Places toilets

We're encouraging businesses and organisations to make sure they get their applications for a Shire Changing Places grant submitted as soon as possible.

Shire Changing Places grants of up to £20,000 are available for firms to fund enhanced toilet facilities to meet the needs of people with multiple and profound disabilities in their local community.

Changing Places toilets are different to standard disabled toilets with extra features and more space to meet the needs of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well as other serious impairments such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis or an acquired brain injury.

We have been encouraged by the amount of interest shown by local businesses and organisations in the Changing Places grant scheme and want to remind those businesses who have not submitted their applications that there is still time to do so.

The opening of the new Adult Learning Centre in Enderby later this month will bring the total number of Changing Places toilets in Leicestershire up to 11, but more are needed across the county.

The grants are available to public and private sector organisations responsible for county-based buildings where a Changing Places toilet could be provided and that are publicly accessible. Funding is for the provision and installation of approved equipment only.
