Opportunities to develop new skills and interests

If you want to learn a new skill, improve your job prospects or develop a new interest, Leicestershire County Council has hundreds of courses available through its adult learning service this autumn.

You can visit www.leicestershire.gov.uk/golearn  to discover the full range of part-time day, evening and weekend courses. People who enrol on a course before 31 August will benefit from an ‘early bird’ discount of 10 per cent off the course fee.

You can also call the Leicestershire Adult Learning Service on 0800 988 0308 (lines open Monday – Friday 9am-7pm) to speak to an advisor and to find out more about courses and fees.

The courses can make a real difference to people’s lives. There are courses designed to help learners get back into the job market, improve their maths and English, support their children’s learning and improve their health and well-being.

If you receive certain benefits, or are on a low income, you can get a 70 per cent discount on adult education courses, or may be entitled to attend for free.

Among the courses on offer are:

Employability and skills for jobs;
Courses for learners whose first language is not English;
Learning for confidence and better mental health;
Courses for adults with learning disabilities and difficulties;
Free English and maths for adults (terms and conditions apply);
Language and computer courses available from beginner to more advanced level;
Traineeships and apprenticeships;
Relaxation and well-being, including arts, crafts and fitness
