Support a youngster as a One2One foster carer

More foster carers are needed to support youngsters with specialist needs

Intensive foster support needed for youngsters

Wanted: a loving home and support for some of Leicestershire’s young people in need of intensive support.

Leicestershire County Council is looking to add to its pool of foster carers by recruiting specialist carers to provide targeted, individual care for young people in need of concentrated and dedicated support.

The One2One role would suit individuals with experience of working with children and families, such as probation, youth and social workers.

We’re seeing an increasing number of teenagers and young people in need of additional care that a One2One carer could provide.

We’ve introduced this role because we know children in care are best placed with families as they offer support networks and help individuals to thrive and become successful adults.

If you have experience of working with children, supporting them through difficult times and could offer the time and extra support some of our children need I would encourage you to find out more.

This new role has been introduced to increase the number of specifically trained foster carers able to help young people in need of extra and intensive support.

Training and specialist support is provided by the council’s fostering team, as well as regular respite days. The application process takes around six months

Enhanced training and regular guidance will ensure One2One carers are supported and can offer the best home for a young person in need.

An open event for potential One2One carers is being held at County Hall, Glenfield, on Thursday 10 March from 4pm to 6.30pm. Members of the fostering team will be on hand to answer questions.
