Unpaid carers across Leicestershire are being encouraged to come forward and see what support may be available to them.
The county council has developed a new carers assessment form which aims to make the assessment process simpler and easier for carers to discuss their needs.
It will also improve the process for carers, who have already been assessed as eligible for a one-off carers' personal budget, to have a review of their needs.
The authority says it wants all unpaid carers in the county to feel valued and supported.
It’s not always easy for carers to leave the person they care for to seek support, but they now have the option to submit their assessment online at any time of the day, and get an immediate acknowledgement that we have received it. We have also appointed two dedicated carer support officers to provide support and guidance to carers in Leicestershire and I would urge all of our unpaid carers to complete the online assessment form and find out what support is availablePerson:Richard Blunt, county council cabinet member for adult social care
The council says it is committed to making online services as easy as possible for people to use and the new simplified online carers assessment form is the first of several improvements to be made.
