Charnwood Sure Start Children's Centres

Sure Start Children’s Centres are a government run programme to support to all families with babies and children from pregnancy until they go to school.  Support offered aims to ensure that every child receives the best possible start in life by bringing together early education, health and family support.

We have 7 centres covering Charnwood including Anstey, Cobden, Loughborough West, Mounstorrrel, Shelthorpe, Shepshed, Thurmaston.

We have a team of friendly practitioners whose aim is to help those that most need it by providing information, advice and services.The types of support they can offer include:

Weaning information

Sleep routines

Parenting support & Behaviour management,

Debt solutions

Housing Support

Benefit and finance checks

Finding a childcare place – 2year & 3 year Free Early Education Entitlement (FEEE)

Sexual health

And lots more! 

We run a range of groups from our centres, many which are open to all.Listed here are a selection of groups that run including:

Bumps to Babies ante natal support  - various venues 

Cherubs  Group  for babies and younger children   – all centres

Play Along /Smiley Faces/Little Ones Learn for under- fives in all centres.

Messy Hands  – stay and play sessions for children under 5 years with additional needs in summer and Easter holidays at Shelthorpe CC

Dads Group – last Saturday of every month at Loughborough West CC
