Sibsservice is a charity organisation which offers support to young people aged 8-14 siblings of those with Autism Syndrome Disorder (ASD)We provide the siblings with a safe place where they have the freedom to be themselves and share experiences with other children in similar situations.   We acknowledge that sometimes it’s hard having a sibling with special needs and good to have people to talk to who have some idea what it’s like.We deliver many different activities including Arts & crafts, Sport and games, Drama. Trips include camping and watersports, climbing and Trampolining.  Alongside these activities, each SIBS session has a therapeutic focus.   The therapeutic programme aims to FRAME:    FUN - Siblings make friends and enjoy themselvesRELIEVE ISOLATION - Siblings meet other siblings facing similar situationsACKNOWLEDGE FEELINGS - Siblings discuss and value the unique feelings and experiences of being a siblingMODEL COPING STRATEGIES - Siblings learn how to manage difficult situations and identify support networksENHANCE KNOWLEDGE - Siblings learn more about their brother or sister’s disabilityWhenever possible we plan activities and discussions as requested by the siblings or parents either for fun or to support a particular difficulty they are experiencing.What we can do for you as a ParentYou can talk when you see us or telephone anytime...We offer advice or point you in the right direction for support, information, resources and workshops regarding Autism, Behaviour Management, Wellbeing and Education. We can be someone to talk to in difficult times.  We can listen, empathise and can often share successful strategies and practical advice or information.  We can be a voice, and collect data to support you concerns and report them to other professional bodies.Our parents often network, share information and support each other.  We generally have other families who are experiencing the same difficulties as yourselves.Our enthusiastic highly trained team have a broad experience and expertise supporting Children with ASD and other associated and mental health difficulties.CostWe ask for a donation of £5 per session towards resources, necessary training and running the non-profit charityFor more information about us and for an idea of the sorts of things we get up to, why not look at our Facebook page can also find out more information and useful links, our website Wigston runs Thursday 16:30 – 18:15 (Fortnightly – Term Time)
