School transport for 16 to 19 year olds

Your child may be able to get a school travel pass or taxi place to go to sixth form or college. You may have to pay for it.

Fare-paying place on school contract buses

You can apply for a fare-paying place on a school contract bus. Your child will be given a place if there are spaces available after all eligible children have been given a seat. Seats will be given on a “first come, first served” basis.

If your child had a fare-paying place last year they will be given priority over new applicants but places cannot be guaranteed.

Apply online

The transport application form for the 2019/2020 academic year is now available. The transport charge is £800 for the academic year. You can pay by debit or credit card in one lump sum or in up to 8 monthly instalments.

You may be able to find cheaper transport through the school, commercial bus companies or public transport

Post 16 fixed grant

If you are entitled to a Post 16 fixed grant, you can use the grant towards a farepaying space, but you will need to submit an application form for each scheme.

If you are eligible, you will receive a cheque for the grant and if you have also applied for farepaying transport we will contact you separately regarding the availability of farepaying spaces. If successful in being offered a seat, you can use the grant to help pay towards the £800 fee which is taken either by debit/credit card in one lump sum or by an instalment plan.
