Co-production highlights how working in genuine partnership ensures that local care decisions reflect the real, lived experiences of the community.
Our Engagement Panel brings together people who use services, carers and senior leaders to share learning, inspire good practice, and spark important conversations about the future of care.
In the last few months alone, the panel have supported the development of new adult social care information cards; have featured on a live Radio Leicester broadcast; have contributed to the new Carers’ Strategy and much more.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our panel members past and present for volunteering their time and most importantly for the difference they make.
Case study: Luke
Hi I’m Luke, I’m 27 years old and I have Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. I joined the Engagement Panel at the age of 19, after a leaflet came through the door looking for different lived experience.
I had just left school and was wondering what I was going to do. The Panel has been through many iterations being slow to start and at one point I was worried it wouldn’t take fire, it was paused for about 18 months during the Covid pandemic, when it came back, we started online and it slowly built to the group that it is today. Thanks to Jane’s perseverance, the current director and assistant director have brought the panel into everyday processes with great infrastructure.
I personally get involved in policy development at all sorts of levels, being on the Engagement Panel gives me prospective on a local level, this helps me link my other work improving adult social care nationally.
I am really proud to be part of the Engagement Panel and how far it has come.
