Is your community ‘risk ready’?

Kristy Ball, representing the Local Resilience Forum (LRF), introduces Risk Ready Communities – a new programme to help communities tackle risks like flooding, power outages and disease outbreaks.

“Key risks like flooding and power cuts can strike anywhere at any time and have devastating outcomes – but communities can respond quicker and recover faster, if they prepare as much as they can in advance.

That’s why the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Resilience Forum has launched 'Risk Ready Communities' in partnership with the charity Groundwork Five Counties and Communities Prepared.

Communities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland can access support to identify and prepare for key risks, helping them to reduce the impact of emergencies and speed up recovery. The programme is free and is open to everyone - all residents, community groups, local councils and faith groups across the area.

Groups who are interested will get access to free webinars, workshops and in-person events to help them strengthen their community resilience.

It’s really important that everyone in the community is aware of the actions they can take in an emergency, and that we all look out for each other to make sure our communities are truly ‘risk ready’."

Communities can sign up now for our introductory webinar which will take place on both Thursday 16 April, 11am-12pm and Tuesday 21 April, 6.30-7.30pm (same session, different times).
