Getting a personal health budget

The West Leicestershire and the East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning groups of the NHS manage the personal health budgets for Leicestershire for people registered with a doctor ('GP') in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland.

To get a personal health budget:

  • you need to speak to your NHS Continuing Healthcare case manager that you want to apply for a personal health budget
  • you will be given an ‘indicative budget’ (an estimated budget)
  • you will be given a personalised support plan and this helps to decide how you are going to spend your budget to meet your health and wellbeing needs
  • your completed care and support plan is sent in for approval and a final budget is agreed
