Environment Action

Environment Action volunteers help reduce their impact on the environment and encourage others to do the same. There are role-based activities such as raising awareness of issues with climate change, waste, and biodiversity loss, as well as task-based activities such as representing the council at public engagement events, completing biodiversity-focused site surveys, and the control of invasive non-native species.

Country parks

Country parks volunteers help look after our beautiful green spaces and the wildlife living there. Volunteers can get involved in a variety of tasks including hedge laying, tree planting, bird box making, wildlife surveying, and more.

Tree Warden

Tree Wardens are guardians of local trees and can advise and help if you are looking to organise a tree planting scheme. They are appointed by the local parish council (or Harborough Woodland if you live in Harborough).

Tree Wardens plant, protect, and promote local trees. No training or experience is necessary – just a love of trees and a few hours to spare.
Contact your parish council or email treewardens@leics.gov.uk to find out more.

Public Rights of Way

Public Rights of Way volunteers help to look after our footpaths. There are a few different ways to get involved including joining the Rights of Way Maintenance team or becoming a Rights of Way Research volunteer. To learn more about these community based roles, please email footpaths@leics.gov.uk

You could also become a member of Leicestershire Local Access Forum which represents the interests of all concerned with public footpath access and promotes using public rights of way.
