New service for town gets temporary home

Users of six major banks will be able to take advantage of banking services now available at Ashby Library.

Cash Access has taken up home in Leicestershire County Council’s Ashby Library to offer a new banking service, including paying in cash and cheque, withdrawing cash, topping up gas and electricity and paying utility bills.

The library will host the banking hub for the time being whilst Cash Access finalises a permanent home for the service in Ashby.

“This is a fantastic step forward for Ashby residents. The loss of banking services can leave some people high and dry and without a way of dealing with their money.

“That’s why we’re so pleased to host it at our library in the town centre to get these services up and running whilst they wait for their permanent space to be ready.

“Libraries are the heart of many communities and this service reinforces how vital this space is.”

Operated by the Post Office, the hub will be open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, with Nat West, HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group, Santander, Halifax and Bank of Scotland operating on individual days across the week.

Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK said: “I’m pleased to announce that the new banking hub in Ashby is now open, giving local residents access to cash and in-person banking services.

“The hub is available for everyday banking transactions every day of the week, and for more specific or complex enquiries, a community banker will be on-site to assist on designated days.”
