
Bookings can soon be made for new on-demand bus services offering free journeys to attractions such as Twycross Zoo and 1620’s House & Garden this summer.
Leicestershire County Council’s FoxConnect is coming to North West Leicestershire and Hinckley and Bosworth from Monday, 14 July.
Passengers can now book a journey ready for the launch of the new services, which will be free to use until 16 August.
People will be able to travel within each of the three new travel zones, as well as to and from key town centres. Key destinations include:
- Zone 8: Coalville, Market Bosworth and Measham
- Zone 9: Atherstone, Market Bosworth and Measham
- Zone 11: Coalville, Castle Donington and East Midlands Gateway
This service will incorporate stops at popular tourist destinations, such as 1620’s House & Garden, Twycross Zoo and Cattows Farm.
The council’s sustainable travel team will be delivering in-person events about the new services on:
- Thursday 10 July, 13:30-15:30, Witherley Football Club CV9 3NA
- Wednesday 23 July, 12:30-14:00, Market Bosworth Parish Hall CV13 0LL
Leicestershire County Council’s lead member for Highways and Transport, Cllr Charles Whitford, said: “I’m so pleased to see the final phase of our successful FoxConnect project completed, with these brand-new services launching in North West Leicestershire and Hinckley and Bosworth.
“I would urge anyone who lives in these areas to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to use services completely free of charge until 16 August.”
In total there are now 11 zones across Leicestershire, offering improved access to public transport and better connectivity for residents.
Journeys can be booked through the Leicestershire FoxConnect app, or by calling the telephone booking line on 0116 216 7756. Rides can be booked up to seven days in advance, meaning bookings for the new zones open on Tuesday 8 July.
