Bumper SEND information event to be held for families

Activities available at County Hall on Mon, Sept 15

'No bake biscuits’, sensory play and crocheting are just some of the activities being held at Leicestershire’s biggest SEND information event of the year.

Information, advice and a chance to chat with professionals will also be available at the free roadshow which will be held from 5pm -7.30pm on Monday, September 15 at County Hall in Glenfield.

Activities for children and young people will be available and 30 different organisations which support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families are expected to attend the event, which has been organised by Leicestershire County Council.

They include support charities, groups promoting sports, dance and movement, support for young people with autism and the Specialist Teaching Service.

Young carers and members of the council’s Family Help and Youth and Justice services will also be on hand to talk about what they do.

Councillor Charles Pugsley, county council lead member for children and families, said: “We’re looking forward to hosting this event, meeting families and sharing information on support that’s out there.

“Our local offer roadshows are usually very popular, and this one provides a special chance for young people to actively take part in a range of fun and varied activities.”

Activities on the day also include crafting, music, sound and sensory and ‘nature for nurture’.
