Christmas opening hours at Recycling & Household Waste sites

Please check opening hours before heading out

Residents planning to visit a recycling and household waste site over Christmas and New Year are being urged to check opening hours before heading out.

The 13 waste sites, operated by Leicestershire County Council, will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, in addition to their normal closure days.

The days following Boxing Day and into the New Year can be extremely busy at all sites, and potential site visitors are urged to bear this in mind before setting out.

The Christmas season is one of our busiest times at the waste sites, and we’re working hard to keep everything running smoothly, with no changes to opening hours other than the usual seasonal closures.

If you’re planning to visit one of our waste sites, please check our website or social media for the latest updates before you set off.

If things are a little busy when you arrive, thank you for your patience – your good cheer helps make the season brighter for everyone!

For more information about what can be taken to the waste sites, opening times and to find the nearest site, please visit our recycling and waste website.

Festive tips for reducing, reusing and recycling can be found on the Less Waste website.

Residents are also being encouraged to check with their district or borough council, as recycling and refuse collection days may change over the festive season.
