Flooding drop-in sessions are taking place in East Goscote and Oadby this November.
Open to both residents and businesses, the sessions will give people a chance to talk to key agencies including Leicestershire County Council as both lead local flood authority (LLFA) and highway authority and the Environment Agency.
Both agencies will be offering insight into flood-related work that’s planned or already taken place this year and will offer advice on how to be prepared for flooding.
The Flood Mobile, a trailer packed with real life flood resilience items designed for properties will also be at the events giving people the chance to see a range of devices on offer to help homes and businesses protect against flooding.
Both events take place in November:
- Monday 9 November – East Goscote Village Hall, Long Furrow, East Goscote, LE7 3ZL
- Thursday 19 November – Brocks Hill Country Park and Visitor Centre, Washbrook Lane, Oadby, Leicestershire, LE2 5JJ
These sessions are really useful and help to show people how they can find out more about ways to reduce their flood risk.
“We’ve been doing our bit with communities using money to give local areas flood sacks and barriers, but everyone needs to play their part in being prepared.
“It’s also a chance to talk to different authorities, so I’d encourage anyone who has been impacted by flooding, or wants to find out more about being flood ready to come along.
Councillor Adam Tilbury, county council cabinet member for flooding
Visitors can also get advice on how to be better prepared for a range of everyday emergencies, from the Risk Ready resilience team. The Risk Ready programme is led by the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland with Communities Prepared and Groundwork Five Counties.
