Work to help reduce the risk of flooding in Enderby and Whetstone is set to start next week.
Leicestershire County Council will be starting work on Enderby Road in Whetstone from Monday 5th October, with work expected to take place until 27th November.
In Enderby, work will take place on Mill Hill, starting on 26th October until 21st December.
Following a number of flooding events across Leicestershire in recent years, the work is taking place to improve drainage and help both areas be flood ready to reduce the risk of surface water flooding during heavy rainfall.
Work will include upgrades to drains and the installation of new drainage where need has been identified.
Temporary traffic management will be needed while the drainage improvements are carried out, including traffic lights, lane restrictions and footway diversions. The county council thanks residents, businesses and road users for their patience while these important long-term improvements are completed.
“Both of these projects are important for us to improve the drains in each village to reduce the risk of flooding on our roads when we see heavy rainfall.
“Doing this work now is important to improve the long-term resilience of our road network in both Whetstone and Enderby. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause during the periods of the works but once completed it will have a positive impact during bad weather.”
