Construction is underway on a brand new two-form primary school creating hundreds of much-needed new spaces for a growing community.
A special turf-cutting ceremony has taken place in Broadnook to mark the start of work on a new, 420-place school which is due to open next September.
Located within Broadnook garden village, a new settlement in Charnwood borough with 1,950 new homes, the modern primary takes influences from the history of steam railway in the area and is due to open September 2027.
It’s been funded by house builders Davidsons Homes and Cora Homes as part of their section 106 contribution towards the Broadnook community which includes new infrastructure, care home, retirement village and community facilities required to support a new village.
Last week, Dan Harrison, Leader of Leicestershire County Council and James Wilson, Managing Director of Davidsons Homes, took part in the ground-breaking event at the three-hectare site.
Children come first and first-class schools are vital for growing communities. This new primary academy will help meet demand for places and give local families greater choice.
