Murder mysteries and World War II-themed events and tours are being rolled out at a historic Leicestershire landmark as part of plans to ramp up visitor numbers.
Leicestershire County Council is trialling the activities at Beaumanor Hall whilst it draws up a longer-term plan.
The new events, which include company away days, follow discussions with residents and visitors about the activities they would like to attend.
Beaumanor Hall is part of Leicestershire’s rich history.
Whether it’s a school trip or a pie night, many people have fond memories of visiting. It’s a Grade II* listed building with important Second World War heritage and we’re committed to investing, whilst reducing its cost to taxpayers.
That’s why, over the summer, we’ve repaired the 175-year-old chimneys and now, we’re trialling new events to attract more visitors and generate more income.
Beaumanor is open for business. We see great potential in this site and I’m looking forward to the hall’s next chapter.

Over the next six months, twilight wedding packages and more craft fairs, plus investment in marketing, are also being introduced.
A longer-term strategy, set to be finalised next spring, will explore revamping the outdoor education facilities and courtyard and adding new accommodation and aims to cut running costs. Last year, the hall cost £627,000 to operate.
Plans will be discussed next Monday (2 November) at the council’s adults and cultural services scrutiny committee which is meeting at Beaumanor Hall.
