Leicestershire County Council’s highways crews, supported by farmers, volunteers and snow wardens, worked overnight to tackle the impacts of Storm Goretti.
Gritters and snowploughs have been deployed across the county, focusing on key routes to keep communities connected. High winds also brought down eight trees, which have now been cleared.
Conditions vary across Leicestershire: while some areas have seen little impact, most roads are wet and slushy with surface water. Routes in North West Leicestershire and towards Hinckley have been hardest hit, with some localised issues.
Farmers played a vital role in assisting with snow clearance in rural areas, helping to keep local roads open.
Thank you to our residents for your patience and understanding, and to our highways staff, volunteers, farmers, emergency services and community teams who’ve worked through the night. You’ve made a real difference to keeping Leicestershire running during Storm Goretti.
