Lount Recycling and Household Waste site (RHWS) will close for three weeks from Friday 17 July to allow improvement works to take place.
The temporary closure will enable the installation of a new Rehome Zone - a dedicated area where residents can leave reusable items in good condition that they no longer need, so they can be sent for reuse instead of being thrown away, reducing waste and helping to protect the environment.
The Lount site will reopen following the completion of works, which are expected to take three weeks.
During the closure period, Coalville RHWS will be open seven days a week, and Shepshed RHWS will be open five days a week from Thursday to Monday. Residents are being encouraged to use the Shepshed site rather than travel to Coalville, as it will be less busy.
Anyone who has a waste disposal permit valid for Lount will be able to use it at any other site in the county during the closure period.
Installing a Rehome Zone at Lount is an important step in reducing waste and encouraging reuse across the county. While we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure, these improvements will provide long-term benefits for residents and the environment.
