Heritage centre gets improved score from Visit England

Visitors to Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre

Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and Country Park has received its highest ever rating from Visit England.

Scoring an overall quality score of 91% from Visit England’s annual inspection, the attraction has increased by two percent in a year and could now win both the Visit England Gold and Best Told Story accolades after the glowing inspection report.

Bosworth Battlefield is managed by Leicestershire County Council and attracts around 35,000 people per year, including schools across the country and visitors around the globe, as people find out more about the historic Battle of Bosworth.

The inspector’s report stated that: “The quality of welcome provided by the knowledgeable staff, in particular the guide… and the participants in the Roman Around event which took place on the day.”

They also praised the website and engagement with social media, noting that it was: “Impressive with some significant increases again in the numbers of posts and followers, Instagram being particularly notable in this regard.”

Praising the overall attraction, it was noted that: “The appearance of the Buildings and Grounds and Gardens was excellent, together with an impressive overall standard of Decor and Maintenance which demonstrated the pride taken in their surroundings by the staff and volunteers responsible.”

The winners of Visit England’s Gold and Best Told Story accolades will be announced later this year.
