The Acting Leader is Councillor Kevin Crook.
The role of Leader
The Leader is a county councillor who has been appointed to the position by the County Council and chairs the Cabinet meeting. They also represent the County Council on national and regional bodies.
They choose which county councillors make up the Cabinet.
In addition to the portfolios listed above, the Leader of the council has specific responsibilities in regard to national and regional relations, local resilience and staff relations.
