By using the Highway Adoption Status Search tool you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of use outlined above.
The search tool does not include:
- Full highway extents (widths), which requires investigation and verification by council officers before it can be provided - see Highway Record Enquiries
- Classifications, such as if a road is an A, B, or C road. This information is publicly available at www.findmystreet.co.uk
- Roads outside Leicestershire such as roads in the city of Leicester or roads in Rutland
- Responsibility of privately maintainable streets such as which person or organisation is responsible where it is not LCC
- Areas outside of streets such as open spaces, which are typically maintained by district councils, parish councils, or third-parties:

List Of Streets - Highways Act 1980 Section 36(6) & (7)
Leicestershire County Council is required under Section 36 of the Highways Act 1980 to keep an up-to-date record of all highways maintainable at public expense in Leicestershire.
This tool provides this information in both list and map format to fulfil this requirement, but does not currently provide a way of viewing all streets that are just publicly (or part publicly) maintainable in a single list.
Should you require a single list, please visit www.findmystreet.co.uk, a tool managed by GeoPlace which uses data supplied by the council and other authorities updated at least monthly.
- If you notice any differences in the data provided by our search tool and FindMyStreet, please let us know.

Terms of use
By using the Highway Status Search tool, you are accepting that:
- The data has been prepared using best available information from records compiled by the county council and is correct to the best of our knowledge. It does not constitute a definitive statement as to the status of any particular highway.
- The full extent of the council’s maintenance responsibilities cannot be established using this tool. The council provides a service to investigate and verify highway extents if you require this: Highway Record Enquiries.
- The list is a live record that is constantly being amended and updated, and so copies of this data should not be relied upon as they will become out of date.
Please notify us if you believe any of the information to be incorrect.
