The Authority has a statutory duty to maintain our highway assets, including roads, footways, signs, signals, traffic lights and structures, such as bridges. We aim to keep our highway network in good condition, supporting economic growth and a good quality of life for the residents, visitors and businesses of Leicestershire.
We need to achieve this against a range of challenges, including the economy, increasing levels of highway use and pressures on other council services.
The Highway Asset Management Policy (HAMP) and the Highway Asset Management Strategy (HAMS) help us take account of these challenges, driving continuous improvement in the way that we maintain our highway network, ensuring that it continues to be safe, serviceable, and sustainable.
The Highway Infrastructure Asset Management Plan (HIAMP), describes the systems and procedures that will be used to deliver the HAMP and HAMS in Leicestershire. The HIAMP takes account of local needs and priorities and national guidance and standards, including the Code of Practice: Well Managed Highway Infrastructure.
