Community right to build order
The community right to build allows local communities to propose and grant planning permission for developments, without the need to submit a planning application to the local authority.
A community right to build order can be used to grant planning permission for small-scale development in a neighbourhood area that benefits the community, such as:
- homes
- shops
- businesses
- affordable housing for rent or sale
- community facilities
- playgrounds
Community right to build orders can be undertaken by parish or town councils or constituted community groups.
If approved, planning permission is granted for the development covered by the community right to build order.
