Reading Well books are all endorsed by health experts, as well as people living with the conditions covered and their relatives and carers. You can be recommended a title by a health professional, or you can visit your local library and take a book out yourself, or place a free request.
Reading Well 'Books on Prescription' is delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with the Society of Chief Librarians as part of the Society of Chief Librarians' Universal Health Offer. It is funded by Arts Council England and Wellcome.
There are currently four book lists available in Leicestershire libraries:
- Reading Well Books on Prescription for common mental health conditions
- Reading Well Books on Prescription for dementia
- Reading Well for young people
- Reading Well for long term conditions
