Major improvements to pedestrian crossings and road safety along Oadby's A6 are moving into their next stage, with overnight resurfacing work set to begin in November.

Leicestershire County Council has been carrying out a programme of improvements along the A6, centred on The Parade and Brabazon Road junctions, to make it easier and safer for people walking, wheeling and cycling through the town.

Work has been progressing since the summer, with improvements around the petrol station and Epic Garage largely complete, while the Stoughton Road buildout has now been finished.

The project includes new and upgraded pedestrian and cycle crossings, improved pavements, raised crossing points at side roads and modernised traffic signals. Now sections of the A6 will be resurfaced to improve the condition of the road.

Good progress has been made on this scheme and we're now moving into the next stage of work.

Residents will already be seeing some of the benefits taking shape and the next stage will include resurfacing parts of the A6 to provide a smoother journey for everyone.

We know roadworks can be frustrating at times and we're grateful for the patience shown by local people, businesses and visitors while this investment is completed.

To allow resurfacing works to be carried out safely, overnight road closures will be in place on weekday nights from Monday 9 November until Friday 27 November, between 8pm and 6am.

The closure will affect the A6 between the Asda junction and New Street junction, covering the section through The Parade and extending towards the former Waitrose site.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted via London Road/Leicester Road and Brabazon Road. Access arrangements for residents and businesses will be maintained where needed and affected properties will receive information in advance.

Day time work will continue while the night time resurfacing is completed.
