Awards to celebrate social care heroes

Prestigious ceremony to honour carers across the area taking place

Inspired to Care, the team which organised the Care Professional of the Year awards, is now up for an accolade

An event celebrating the dedication and commitment of Leicestershire and Leicester’s adult social care teams takes place later this month.

Tickets are still available for the Care Professional of the Year awards, which recognises the compassion and dedication shown by staff as they care for county and city residents.

This year’s ceremony will be held on Friday, 19 September at Winstanley House, Hinckley Road, Leicester (from 12.30).

Tickets can be purchased from Eventbrite via the Inspired to Care website.

15 awards will be presented during the afternoon, including best newcomer, Personal Assistant of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to Social Care. The afternoon will conclude with the announcement of an overall care professional of the year.

Finalists are nominated by their colleagues, families, or the users of the services , and winners announced during the afternoon.

The event is organised by Inspired to Care, who work for Leicestershire County Council and also support Leicester City Council to promote adult social care careers and help to improve retention rates in the sector.

“I hope people can see our appreciation for care professionals, that they’re being recognised and commemorated as a real force for good. This is a career path that can be hugely rewarding.”

Last year’s winner of the Care Professional of the Year award was James Punch, from New Parks, who scooped three awards and took the overall honour as Care Professional of the Year to a standing ovation from the crowd.

Speaking at last year’s event, he said: “Everything we do, for the people we support, it’s what makes people’s lives better.”
