Cabinet appointed for new council year

County Hall

Leicestershire County Council has put its cabinet in place for the next 12 months.

Council leader, Dan Harrison, has appointed people following the authority’s annual general meeting today (Wednesday).

A year in and we’re making progress. From delivering tens of millions of savings to tackling flooding, we’re improving lives for our residents.

Leicestershire faces some of the biggest challenges it has seen in decades, including local government reorganisation, ongoing financial pressures and the need to respond to major issues such as flooding, transport and care demand.

That’s why the strongest cabinet is needed - to provide the capacity, focus and leadership needed to grip these issues and get the best outcomes for residents at this pivotal time.

I’m confident this is a top team which will help us build on progress, meet the challenges ahead and secure a strong future for Leicestershire.

Cabinet roles:

  • Leader (inc. local government reorganisation, resilience and emergency planning) – Councillor Dan Harrison
  • Deputy leader and culture and heritage – Councillor Kevin Crook
  • Children and family services – Councillor Charles Pugsley
  • Adult social care – Councillor Michael Squires
