Career opportunities in adult learning

Two events to showcase job chances

Adult learning classes run by county council

Two events are being held next month, offering opportunities for a career in adult learning with the county and city councils.

Staff from both authorities will provide an insight into their work when they attend the Leicester Job Show at the King Power Stadium on Thursday, 4 April (10.30am-3pm) and the Leicester Careers Fair, which takes place a day later (Friday, 5 April, 10.30am-2pm) at the City Rooms in Hotel Street, Leicester.

There will be information on qualifications required, training, the next steps towards a career and other topics which may come up in conversation.

The county council's adult learning service, GoLearn, and the Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service (LASALS), are working together as they look to recruit tutors in a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, art and wellbeing.

Roles offer flexibility and can be combined with an applicant’s existing job. There are valuable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training and opportunities, as well as supporting roles in the education sector, including chances to volunteer.

Both of the events are free to enter and there is no need to book.  There are also roles available for learning support assistants and administrative assistants.

One of our top priorities is offering people the chance to gain new skills, improve career prospects, find work or enhance their wellbeing - and adult learning can help to achieve those aims. We're looking to recruit a number of new adult learning tutors in a range of subjects to help us open the doors to new opportunities for people and I'd encourage people to come along to one of the events."

Kerry Gray, head of service for LASALS, said: "We want to improve the lives of residents and work closely with partners to raise aspirations, build achievement and protect the most vulnerable.

“As a local authority provider, we engage and support the most disadvantaged while remaining open to all."

GoLearn vacancies can be viewed on our careers site.
