Charley Crossroads £400k safety upgrade complete

Prioritising road safety

Charley crossroads

Work to improve a busy junction after safety concerns has been completed.

Charley Crossroads, where Charley Road meets the B591 near Copt Oak, has been fully signalised with permanent four-way traffic lights in place after nearly three months of work.

The £400,000 improvements were implemented in response to resident concerns around safety, caused by vehicles frequently failing to give way.

New signage and street lighting on all four approaching roads has also been installed to help drivers at night.

“It’s fantastic to see these new safety measures in place at Charley Crossroads, where reported accidents were high.

“We’d like to thank residents for their patience whilst we carried out the necessary work and look forward to the long-term benefits of this junction upgrade.”

Councillor Adam Tilbury, Lead Member for Highways

Whilst journeys may take slightly longer at peak times, improvements will help manage traffic more effectively as volumes continue to rise.
