Joint press release from Leicestershire’s Safeguarding partners – Leicestershire County Council, Leicestershire Police, Leicester, Leicester and Rutland Probation Delivery Unit and the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board.
Work to safeguard and support vulnerable children in Leicestershire has been recognised.
A joint inspection of the county’s safeguarding partners shows they are committed to recognising and responding to child sexual abuse (CSAFE) in the family environment.
The work of agencies including children’s social care, police, health and probation services, was cast under the spotlight during the visit.
The report highlights robust leadership, sensitive and skilled frontline practice, effective specialist support, and a strong multiagency commitment to keeping children safe.
Inspectors also noted the proactive work already underway, including local reviews, training and a draft countywide strategy to further strengthen the response.
“As a partnership, protecting children from sexual abuse is one of our highest priorities.
“We welcome the findings of this inspection, which recognise the dedication of our frontline workers and the strong commitment across all agencies to identify, assess and support children at risk.
“Tackling child sexual abuse requires openness, strong professional curiosity and a coordinated approach, and that is exactly what we are focused on delivering.
“There is always more we can do and we will take forward the recommendations to continue strengthening our services even further.”

Partners will build on the report’s suggestions, including improving early information sharing, expanding specialist therapeutic support, and increasing take-up of multiagency CSAFE training.
