Key upgrades to busy transport hotspots in Oadby, including The Parade and Brabazon Road junctions with the A6, are set to begin this August as part of a £1.9m investment to improve safety and traffic flow.
Phase one of the project begins on 3 August and will include new and upgraded signal-controlled pedestrian and cycle crossings, improvements to footways including resurfacing, renewal of traffic signals and more. Speed limits will not be changed.
Benefits include safer crossings and reduced risk of vehicle collisions, better visibility between drivers and pedestrians and shorter, safer crossings. Disruption will also be minimised, by combining phase one work with planned resurfacing maintenance.
Phase two of the project will focus on Brabazon Road and is expected to begin in early 2027.
Oadby is a consistently busy part of Leicestershire’s transport network and so these upgrades will give the town a real boost.

Following a successful bid to Active Travel England, who awarded nearly £900,000 for the scheme, the county council will provide a further £1 million from established transport budgets to complete work
Work is expected to last 16 weeks and traffic management measures will be in place throughout, including temporary traffic lights and lane closures. At times, closures of some side roads will also be needed.
