Two recycling and household waste sites run by Leicestershire County Council are to temporarily close in February to allow essential repair works to be carried out.

The Bottesford site will close for four weeks from Monday 16 February. The closure is needed to allow for the replacement of the existing cabin office, which is around 40 years old and no longer fit for purpose. A new cabin will be installed, as well as work to level the site.

The site in Lutterworth will be closed for five weeks from Monday 23 February to allow repairs to the concrete base in the bottom yard, to ensure the site remains safe to operate for the future.

These essential improvements will ensure our household waste and recycling sites remain safe, accessible, and fit for purpose now and into the future.

While we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closures, the replacement of an ageing cabin at Bottesford and the repair works at Lutterworth are necessary investments. I thank residents for their understanding and encourage them to use their nearest alternative site during the works.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternative sites during these periods. A full list of recycling and household waste sites, along with opening times, can be found on our waste and recycling pages.
